While any average cup of tea is good when prepared correctly, this stuff takes your tea expectations to a whole new level. It's not your grandma's bedtime tea or the drink of stuffy breakfasts, either. Rather, it's sweeter and a lot more interesting than many other tea brands out there on the market. But if you happen to find this beverage in the grocery store or your next gas station pit stop , you're probably going to realize that there are several different flavors to choose from.
Of course, if you're just getting acquainted with the brand, you may want to give all of them a try to decide which ones you like best. But if you're looking for some guidance, we've got you covered. We rated all of the eight Peace Tea flavors currently available in the United States, ranking them in order from worst to best. Read on to get an idea of where we stand on this important culinary matter and to get some tips for your next Peace Tea selection.
If you've ever had a good batch of peach tea before, then you know it's really something special. When it's done right, the flavor of peaches is so juicy and sweet that it melds just right with the slight bitterness of the tea. But that doesn't mean that every peach tea is created equally, unfortunately. And when it comes to the Just Peachy tea flavor from Peace Tea, we're going to have to pass. The peach flavoring in this drink is strong. Like really, really strong. In fact, it's so overpowering that the fruity flavor completely covers up any other taste that you would normally get from the tea.
Add to that the fact that it's also overwhelmingly sweet, and it's no wonder this flavor ended up in the last place. Even people with a pretty prominent sweet tooth will surely agree that a can of Just Peachy contains a pretty staggering sugar content.
One reviewer on Amazon summed it up perfectly in just a few words: "Too sweet. Would not purchase again. If you're trying to swap out your regular soda for something that's a bit healthier and tastes more refreshing, it doesn't seem like this peach tea is going to be the best replacement for you.
But don't worry, as there are plenty of other Peace Tea flavors for you to choose from. Just leave this particular one behind in the cold case. If you love tropical fruits but are trying to cut back on your sugar intake, then you may be initially attracted to the concept of the Pineapple Groove Zer-Oh Sugar Peace Tea flavor. This one may seem like a good option because it doesn't contain any sugar or calories at all, a pretty refreshing idea compared to some of the other super-sweet options in the Peace Tea lineup.
But how does it taste? By our standards, it's not all that good. If you have the choice, you'll probably want to avoid this one entirely and look for another low or zero-sugar option. First of all, we're of the opinion that pineapple and tea really shouldn't go together anyway.
They're simply incompatible flavors, as pineapple is generally too sweet and acidic at the same time to pair well with most types of tea. But this combo is especially bad because the sweetness of the drink doesn't even come from natural sugar.
It has a distinct chemical taste to it, likely from the artificial sweeteners thrown into the mix. All told, it probably isn't what you want when you open up a can of tea. And when it comes to the pineapple flavoring? That doesn't taste natural, either. More than anything, this drink is cloyingly sweet and artificial. You may be tempted to give this a try considering that it's one of the more unusual Peace Tea varieties, but we wouldn't waste our time or money on it. When you first see the Sweet Lemon flavor of Peace Tea, you may assume that you're getting yourself into a lemonade-like situation.
Yet, though the very name may indicate just such an experience, that's not really what you're going to get with this drink. The first thing you'll notice when you take a sip is how sweet the tea is. In fact, it's so intense that the sweetness is way more pronounced than any other Peace Tea flavor. Now, if you really like your tea on the sweeter side, that may not be a problem here. However, if you prefer a drink that's a bit more subtle and isn't all sugar, all the time, you're probably not going to like this one.
After the initial burst of sweetness, you'll start to taste the lemon. We actually think they went a little overboard with the lemon flavoring in this Peace Tea, but overall, it's not so bad. The lemon taste isn't as overpowering as some of the other flavors, so you can still get a hint of tea when you choose this option.
So, is the Sweet Lemon our favorite of all the Peace Tea flavors out there? Definitely not. But if you want something that has a strong citrus taste to it without being plain old lemonade, you're may still want to give this drink a try.
Sometimes, you just want to keep things simple, and that may be why you choose the Green Tea flavor from Peace Tea. If you truly love tea in all its forms, then this may just be the best flavor for you. That's because you can really taste the quality of the tea when you open up a can of this stuff. It's not covered up by any other flavors, which might outcompete the more subtle profile of the green tea.
Of course, it has a different flavor than the stuff you might brew at home, but we like it that way. That being said, you shouldn't be too surprised that this drink is packed full of sugar, just like most other Peace Tea flavors. In fact, it boasts 40 grams of added sugars, which is 79 percent of an average adult's healthy daily allotment of the stuff. While this may not be ideal for your health, if you're the type of person who really enjoys a sweeter drink, then you're going to love this stuff.
